77 thousand Russians visited Mexico in 2011, whichis almost twice as many as in 2011. It was announced by the Mexican Ambassador to
Russia Ruben Beltran at the presentation named The Unknown Mexico: New Travel Opportunities:
“23 million people visited the country in 2012; Russians are on the 15th place,
but what is more important for us – it's the positive dynamics of arrivals from
your country”. The ambassador noted that if we compare 2006 (when 7 thousand Russian
tourists visited Mexico)
to 2012, we'll see that the number has changed significantly. Generally, the possibility
of applying for a visa through the web site of the embassy contributed to the rates'
growth. According to Mr. Beltran, Mexico is expecting 100 thousand of our compatriots
this year; and by 2018 it's getting ready to receive half a million Russians.
