Russian tourists place second after the British in Cyprus

In the first half of 2011 Cyprus welcomed over 131.2 thousand Russian tourists, which is 53% more compared to the same period in 2010. According to Cyprus Statistics Bureau’s data 56.4 thousand Russian tourists spent their vacation on the island – 53.4% more than in the same month of previous year. The Russians hold second place in terms of arrivals after the British.

In the first semester of 2011 the total of almost 974 thousand foreign tourists came to Cyprus, this figure is almost 11% more than it was in the same period of previous year.

The total income of the island’s travel industry for the first five months of this year amounts to around €457 million – 20% more compared to the period from January to May 2010.
