French Alps favor Russians. Particularly in January

08:07, 10 июня 2011

This year the Russian tourist flow to the French Alps has grown by 22% and reached 35 thousand people. French hoteliers really love Russian tourists for they are filling their hotels in January which is traditionally considered to be the low season in the region. This was the topic of many speeches of the region’s workshop that took place last week in Saint Petersburg, Kiev and Moscow.

At the same time General Director of Rhone Alpes Tourisme Mr. Mark Beshe noted that Russian tour operators’ season boundaries are gradually widening, more and more tourists are coming in March and even in April.

Marketing Director of Meribel Tourist Office Mr. Jacques de Vida pointed out that this year this most popular among the Russians ski resort had welcomed roughly the same number of tourists as last year – around 9 thousand.

Marketing Director of Val-Thorens Tourist Office Mr. Eric Bonele revealed that the last winter season had brought 25-30% more Russian visitors to the resort after a downfall in 2010.

Apart from ski resorts and hotels representatives the workshop welcomed two noble chefs from Lyon; having bought all the ingredients at one of Moscow’s markets performed a master-class in creating culinary masterpieces.
