Ethno tourist complex to open near Naryan-Mar
As told by the head of
the Department for the indigenous people of the North and the traditional
activities of the Nenets autonomous area Yuriy Khatanzeysky, the tourist
center, situated seven kilometers away from the district's capital Naryan-Mar,
will be a complex of constructions. A hotel, spaces for national crafts
workshops, a summer platform for 150 people, a bath, a checkpoint, a boiler
room, two deer shelters, a playground, a fire reservoir and a complete transformer
substation are among them.
Besides, seven
traditional life-like residential buildings with all internal furniture of the
indigenous people – chumi – will be set up on the territory of the center. A

institution will be operating here at the budgetary funds. 12 people will be
recruited which will provide new vacancies for the experts on culture of the
indigenous people of the North”, - noted Yuriy Khatanzeysky. As the district
Government for the indigenous people of the North explained to the Regnum
Agency, the main aim of the project is to create an up-to-date base of the
material and spiritual culture of the indigenous people for city’s tourists and
guests.
The cultural center
will accept tourist groups and deliver cultural events on district-,
interregional- and international levels. Besides, the center can accept
official delegations and become a vacation place for the people of Nenets area.
“As the center is
going to be located in a nature zone, over the long term it will be possible to
develop such types of services as skiing, sledge riding, snowmobiles driving,
as well as riding reindeer and dog team, fishing at Kuya river which will be
located near the complex, - explained Mr. Khatanzeysky. – Besides, extra-mural
theme-based lessons on local lore can be held for children and pupils”.
Financing of the
tourist cultural center construction is carried out within the long term target
program called Preservation and development of the indigenous people of the
North of Nenets autonomous area in 2011-2013. Co-financing is carried out
according to the agreement on granting to the budget of the Nenets autonomous
area in 2011 knitted between the Nenets area administration and the Ministry of
regional development of the

travel potential, it’s necessary to fit the Nenets autonomous area in the
travel rout across the North-West of Russia, range it as one of the travel
destinations in the North and add it to Moscow’s and St. Petersburg’s markets.
To do this, it’s necessary to develop travel infrastructure and the new
ethnographical canter will be ministerial to it”, - stressed Yuriy
Khatanzeysky.
