08:07, 25 февраля 2013

In Hungary, Russian visitors hold leadingpositions in terms of quite a number of travel-related factors. At the end of 2012, the statistics placed them first in terms of an average length of stay (3.9 days; 4.1% growth); third in terms of the number of overnights spent at the country's accommodation facilities (582,300; 31.8% growth); and second in respect of these overnights growth ratio. Hungary's hotels welcomed a total of 149,200 Russian tourists in 2012, having improved the last year's results by 26.6%.

As of today, Russian tourists rank second in the number of nights at Hungary's balneo hotels and first in the rate of growth of such nights. When compared to 2011, this index added 16.1% reaching 201,100 overnights.

Out of all Hungarian cities, Budapest attracts the largest number of visitors. Last year, as many as 109,000 Russian tourists (+22.1% year-on-year) spent 331,677 nights in this city, which is over 23% more than a year before. Most of them stayed in the capital for three days. However, the Hungarian statistics shows that Lake Balaton seems a lot dearer to the Russians. While the number of overnights spent there by all foreign visitors has grown by some 4%, Russian holidaymakers finished the year with an upturn of over 40%, exceeding 212 thousand nights. On average, Russians stay on Balaton for 8.2 days (+9.2% year-on-year).
