FMS organizes automated migration reporting

Presentation of new information system of Federal Migration Service of Russia was organized in Moscow Domodedovo airport. It will allow foreigners crossing the border without filling in the migration card by hand, the passport and personal data will be entered into the system automatically at the passport control.

Disclosing the system FMS Director Konstantin Romodanovsky said: “Using this system the officer needs less than one minute for an execution of a card, which is twice faster than before.  We will be aiming to reach European standards in the future, which means reducing the time even more”.

Mr. Romodanovsky explained that purchase and installation of the necessary equipment cost less than 10 mio Rubles.

FMS plans to install the same information systems in Sheremetyevo airport till the end of 2011 and later in Kazan, Vladivostok and St.Petersburg. More than a year ago similar system was set up in Vnukovo airport. Konstantin Romodanovsky thinks that it functions successfully there.
