Russians win the first place at shopping in Europe

In 2011 nine Chic Outlet Shopping villages run by Value Retail company were visited by over 29 million people which is 12% more than in 2010. Tax free refunds for non-EU residents increased by 58%. An average purchase for tax free refund amounted to €294.

The list of the countries whose citizens are among top-visitors of the outlet villages is headed by China, followed by the Middle East countries and Russia which takes the third place. However there are 4 shopping villages where the Russians win the first place at tax free refunds. These are La Roca (Spain), Fidenza (Italy), Ingolstadt (Germany) и Maasmechelen (Belgium).

Tax free refunds for Russians have increased by 65% in 2011 if compared with 2010. An average Russian shopper, applying for VAT refund on the way home, spends €271 on his purchase at an outlet village.
