Transaero performs first flight with onboard Internet and mobile access

The air company «Transaero» has just performed their first flight UN123/124 Moscow-Vladivostok-Moscow with onboard high-speed broadband Internet and mobile access. Those passengers whose mobile devices allow Wi-Fi connection to the internet were able to enjoy the new service during the flight.

In order to get the Internet access the passenger just has to turn on their personal mobile device after the take off. The system will automatically suggest to choose Tranaero network and the start page will be loaded. After that by picking the appropriate options in the menu the passenger will be able to pay for the Internet acces with their credit card. The price for the service equals 800 rubles for the unlimited access or 400 rubles per hour.

At the moment two «Transaero»’s arcrafts operate with satellite equipment onboard. They are Boeing 777-300 and Boeing 747-400. Other similar aircrafts are being equipped as well.

«Transaero» is using the satellite internet equipment produced by Panasonic Avionics and T-mobile is providing the Internet. As for the  mobile access it is provided by AeroMobile company. The payment for the service should be effected in accordance with the passenger’s mobile operator’s international roaming rates.
